Extractions Near Kinnelon, NJ

There are times when it is necessary to remove a tooth. Sometimes, a baby tooth has misshapen or long roots that prevent it from falling out as it should, and the tooth must be removed to make way for the permanent tooth to erupt. Other times, a tooth may have so much decay that it puts the surrounding teeth and jaw at risk. Infection, orthodontic correction, or problems with a wisdom tooth can also require removal of a tooth.

If it is determined that your child’s tooth needs to be removed, your pediatric dentist may extract the tooth during a regular checkup or may schedule another visit for this procedure. The root of each tooth is encased within the jawbone in a “tooth socket,” and the tooth is held in that socket by a ligament. In order to extract a tooth, the dentist must expand the socket and separate the tooth from the ligament holding it in place. While this procedure is typically very quick, it is important to share with your dentist any concerns or preferences for sedation; we want to make sure your child is as comfortable as possible.

We had a fantastic experience at Thrive Pediatric Dentistry! From the moment we called, the administrative staff was incredibly kind and helpful, answering all of our questions with patience and care. Our son has a history of a tongue and lip tie, which made him understandably nervous about the dentist. However, the team at Thrive went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable. They were so sweet and welcoming, involving him in the process and making sure he felt safe. Thanks to their gentle approach, he did an amazing job during his cleaning—something that wouldn't have been possible without the effort they put into making him feel at ease.We are thrilled to have found our forever dentist for our son! And an added bonus—if he ever needs braces down the road (way too early to tell at just 2 years old), they offer orthodontic services as well.We highly recommend Thrive Pediatric Dentistry to any parents looking for a caring and professional team that truly understands how to make kids feel comfortable. We feel 100% confident in their care and are so grateful to have found them!
